UFC: Israel Adesanya Brutally Knocked Out by Imavov
In a shocking UFC upset, Israel Adesanya suffers a brutal knockout defeat at the hands of Nassourdine Imavov, shaking up the middleweight division.
Nassourdine Imavov knocked out former UFC middleweight champion Israel Adesanya on Saturday night.
It was the Stylebender’s third defeat in a row.
Adesanya was knocked to the canvas by a powerful right hand from Imavov.
Imavov defeated Adesanya with powerful ground and pound strikes midway through the second round.
In April 2023, Adesanya conquered his challenges by knocking out Alex Pereira on his fourth attempt.
With that victory, the Nigerian-New Zealander reclaimed the UFC middleweight title but later faced consecutive defeats against Sean Strickland and Dricus Du Plessis.
As he prepared to face Imavov, Adesanya required a victory to stay among the elite in the middleweight division.
However, Imavov ruthlessly denied him that opportunity.
Adesanya seemed to momentarily contest the stoppage, but it was clear that things would have only deteriorated further if the referee hadn’t intervened.
The entire crowd at the AnB arena in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, was taken aback by the stoppage—even Adesanya showed his frustration by pounding the canvas as he absorbed what had happened.
