UCL: Guardiola Explains Why Man City Lost 2-0 to Juventus
Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola addresses the reasons behind his team’s 2-0 loss to Juventus in the UEFA Champions League, highlighting key factors and lessons for the squad.
Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has stated that the team’s defeat to Juventus in the Champions League was due to a lack of sharpness in the final third and being vulnerable to counterattacks.
Dusan Vlahovic and Weston McKennie both found the net for the Serie A side, securing a notable 2-0 victory over City on Wednesday evening.
This outcome leaves Guardiola’s squad with only one win in their last ten matches across all competitions.
More critically, the Premier League champions currently sit in 22nd place, facing the risk of early exit from the league phase.
“We performed very well, but we failed to execute the final pass and actions when we were in position. We conceded a few goals and were caught in transitions,” Guardiola remarked to the media.
“However, I am immensely proud of these players; they gave their all and made every effort. We are currently in a challenging phase, but I hope we can turn things around with positive results.
“I understand that it is a tough challenge, particularly in the Champions League, yet we played exceptionally well.
“We have two matches remaining and may need just one point, or a victory in the final home game. We previously lost to Feyenoord and Inter Milan, despite playing well, and that has contributed to our difficulties.”
