The decision, according to reports, marks the end of the diplomat’s term as the Federal Republic of Nigeria’s Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador to the United Kingdom.

Ambassador Sarafa Tunji Ishola, Nigeria’s High Commissioner to the United Kingdom, has been called back by President Bola Tinubu.

In January 2021, former President Muhammadu Buhari appointed Ishola.

However, in a letter dated August 31, 2023, the minister of foreign affairs, Amb. Yusuf Maltama Tuggar, announced that the decision marked the end of Ishola’s term as the Federal Republic of Nigeria’s Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the United Kingdom.

By way of this notification, you are now required to start winding up your affairs, seek formal leave from your host government within sixty days, and return to Nigeria no later than October 31, 2023, according to the letter.

“I would like to take this opportunity to thank you on behalf of Mr. President for the service you have provided as Ambassador and Principal Representative of Nigeria in the United Kingdom.

“While looking forward to your arrival in Abuja upon your return, allow me to join Mr. President in expressing gratitude to Your Excellency for your great service to Nigeria and as a leader. I pray that God will continue to lead you in all of your undertakings.
