Prior to the November governorship election, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidates for Lokoja I and II State Constituency in the last general election, Hon. Ahmed Shehu Yabagi and Hon. Ishaiku Kasimu Musa, have defected to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Alhaji Yahaya Bello, governor of the state of Kogi, welcomed them.

Governor Bello expressed his delight at the decision of the legislators to join the ruling party.

He maintained that his administration accords respect and value to competence, and not necessarily to how long an individual has been a member of the ruling party.

He admonished the politicians to utilize their vast experience and to encourage their supporters to work diligently for the party’s success.

In their separate remarks, the new members of the APC reassured the Governor of their commitment to uphold the ideals of their new political home.

In the meantime, Bashorun Moses Eseyin, the Accord party’s senatorial candidate for Kogi West in the 2023 general election, has resigned from the party.

Eseyin resigned from the Accord Party without providing a reason.

In a letter addressed to the chairman of the party in Ward 6, Mopamuro Local Government Area, Kogi State, he resigned.
