Two Killed, Others Injured as Troops Clash with IPOB and Kidnappers in Imo
Two criminal elements were killed and several others were injured during a gun battle with Nigerian troops of Operation UDO KA in Imo State, according to a statement released by Lieutenant Colonel for Joint Task Force Operation UDO KA.
The troops were on a routine patrol in Umuaka when they were alerted to a kidnapping incident and the escape route of the kidnappers.
They swiftly pursued the kidnappers and engaged in a firefight, successfully neutralizing one of the kidnappers and injuring two others.
Despite the kidnappers’ attempts to use passers-by as human shields, the troops remained professional and managed to recover an AK 47 rifle with two loaded magazines and a motorcycle.
In a separate incident, troops working with personnel from Naval Base, Oguta, also neutralized a suspected member of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) at Amagberedere village in Oguta LGA. During a raid operation on the suspected hideout of the dissidents, the troops were fired upon, but they responded appropriately and neutralized one of the terrorists.
They also recovered a pump-action shotgun and two cartridges.
