Two individuals facing charges for alleged theft
On Tuesday, two men—Emmanuel Chukwuebuka, 23, and Olufemi Bayode, 28—were charged with theft of a generator and building supplies worth N720,000. The charges were brought before an Ado-Ekiti Chief Magistrates’ Court.
Two counts of conspiracy and theft are being brought against the defendants, who do not have known addresses.
Insp. Akinwale Oriyomi, the prosecutor, informed the court that the defendants had committed the offences in Ado-Ekiti on November 12 at around 11:00 a.m.

He claimed that the defendants took N720,000 worth of goods, including a Tiger generator, 70 kg of filler, and white cement belonging to Emmanuel Durojaiye.
Oriyomi went on to say that the defendants planned to steal the things when they were employed by Durojaiye at a location.
He claims that the offences violate Ekiti State, 2021’s Criminal Laws, sections 302(1)(a) and 421.
In order to review the case file and present his witnesses, the prosecutor requested a postponement of the hearing from the court.
However, the defendants entered a not guilty plea to the accusations that were brought against them.
Mrs. Adunni Olanipekun, the defendants’ attorney, pleaded with the judge to give the accused people bail, promising that they would appear for their trial.
The accused were granted bail by Chief Magistrate Mr. Bankole Oluwasanmi in the amount of N80,000 apiece, with an additional N80,000 awarded to each surety.
He then postponed the case’s hearing until January 17, 2024. In NAN
