The defendants committed the crime in December 2022 at the Fancy and Furniture area of the Alaba International Markets in Ojo, Lagos, the prosecution, Dr. Simon Uche, had earlier told the court.
He emphasised that the cylinders cost N20 million and mentioned that the defendants both planned to steal petrol cylinders that belonged to a man named Victor Nzekwe.
He claims that the defendants were ultimately taken into custody by the police and charged with crimes.
He said that the offence was against sections 287 and 411 of the Lagos State 2015 Criminal Law.
As a result, the magistrate granted the defendants bail in the amount of N1 million per, with two sureties in the same amount, and postponed the case to February 7, 2024, for further consideration.
