Two immigration officials were shot and killed in the state by unidentified assailants, according to the Taraba State Police Command.
Little more than a day has passed since the brutal assassination of Federal University, Wukari staff members before the officers were killed.
The state police command Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Abdullahi Usman, confirmed the attack on Wednesday and stated that the cops were brutally murdered by their assailants.
The officers were murdered yesterday along the Takum/Ussa local government councils road, according to the command, by suspected bandits.
He claimed, “They were not only shot dead but also matcheted with cuts all over their bodies. The officers are Inspector Adike Austin and Uzo James.”
Furthermore, it should be noted that the slain officers worked for the “Immigration Department attached to Ussa local government council checkpoint.”
He stated that while their bodies had been sent to the mortuary for an examination, the state police command had started an inquiry in an effort to find those responsible.
The command stated that the murder had nothing to do with the council’s ongoing herders/farmers issue, which has resulted in the heinous devastation of people’s lives and property.
The Immigration Service could not be reached for comment at the time of publication, but according to some of its personnel who spoke with our state correspondent, the news was received with disbelief at the command.
