Authorities in Kenya said that on Friday, intense rains and water destroyed roads, power transmission lines, and homes and animals. One person went lost and at least two were slain.
According to authorities, one of the victims perished after a house in the coastal city of Mombasa collapsed due to severe rains, and the other victim was carried away by floods in Meru County, central Kenya. Searchers were looking for a third individual who might have drowned in the northern region of the country, in Isiolo.
Prior to Monday, Kenya’s Meteorological Department had issued an above-average rainfall warning.
When there hasn’t been much rain, floodwaters may occur, especially downstream. To reduce their exposure to lightning strikes, residents are recommended not to drive through moving water, to walk in open fields or beneath trees, and to stay away from grilled windows during rainy weather “read the advisory.

Flash floods brought on by the heavy rainfall in Mombasa destroyed houses and businesses. In the northeast, a main road connecting Wajir and Mandera counties was totally shut off, leaving drivers stuck. Videos showed automobiles submerged in flooded highways.
On Thursday, dramatic video of a wildlife conservancy helicopter crew saving eight people from a truck that was being carried away by rushing floodwaters in Samburu County surfaced.
In Somalia and Tanzania, two nearby countries, there have also been reports of heavy rainfall. According to the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, “several homes have been inundated and bridges damaged.”
