Two suspected bandits have been captured by Kaduna State Police Command operations, who have also retrieved five cars and an AK-47 gun.

The Command’s spokesman, ASP Mansir Hassan, released a statement on Saturday that read, “A team from the Tudun Wada Division in Zaria, while conducting a routine patrol near the Agoro Level Crossing area, intercepted a suspect identified as Babangida Sani, a 37-year-old male from Faskari Local Government Area in Katsina State, at about 0310 hours on June 6, 2024.”

“He had boarded a commercial motorbike en route the Flyover Garage, travelling from Jos to Faskari.”

The suspect’s AK-47 rifle was found by the authorities, but the motorbike rider fled the scene when he saw the search being conducted and was soon apprehended and detained.

In a similar vein, on June 4, 2024, at 1800 hours, the SCID’s Anti-Car Theft Unit responded quickly to a tip and found two abandoned cars in Mogadishu, Kaduna: a Toyota Matrix (registration number DKA 321 TT) and a Toyota Camry LE (registration number KGK 114 AA).

A white Toyota Hilux van (registration number GWA 845 CY), which had been reported stolen at Karji Junction, was also found at the Yazid Hotel on Ali Akilu Road in Kaduna on June 5, 2024, at approximately 12:15 p.m.

According to the spokesperson, additional inquiries resulted in the apprehension of three suspects, all from Zamfara State: Sa’ad Abdullahi, Salihu Musa, and Usman Zubairu Ganu. These individuals were discovered to be in possession of two additional vehicles, a Mercedes Benz (Reg No.: BKD 137 SB) and a Honda Accord (Reg No.: RBC 143 MQ), both of which were suspected to be stolen.

The statement further stated that on June 5, 2024, three armed males on a motorbike were spotted travelling through a known bandit path towards the Eastern Bypass. The information was reported to the DPO Millennium City Division by the Sabon Gida vigilante group in Maraban Rido Village, Sabo AOR.

It was assumed that the men were carrying weapons undercover.

After the DPO organised a group of police patrol officers, a military strike force, and neighbourhood vigilantes, the accused were apprehended close to Kakura 2 Village along Umar Musa Yar’Adua Way.

Two of the suspects were able to flee, but the 26-year-old motorcyclist Buhari Madaki and his red Jincheng motorcycle were apprehended, according to the statement. When questioned, Madaki was unable to offer a convincing justification for choosing the risky path so late in the evening.
