Two alleged gunrunners are detained by the DSS in Kano
In Kano State, the Department of State Services (DSS) has detained two alleged gunmen.
When he said this on Thursday, Peter Afunanya, Public Relations Officer, Department of State Services, National Headquarters Abuja, also said that certain exhibits had been retrieved.
Two AK-47 assault rifles, two empty AK-47 magazines, a red Boxer motorbike and a sack of yams—the weapons’ hiding places—were all found, he said, by the DSS officials.
Investigations, according to him, showed that the suspects were detained while they were their route to supply the weapons and ammunition that were to be used to carry out a planned assault in one of the States in Northern Nigeria.
The message also urged people to remain on guard at all times and to report any unusual activity in their neighbourhood.
In addition, he urged everyone who runs or visits entertainment, hospitality, and tourist venues to exercise caution throughout the holiday season. The statement also wished all Muslim believers a peaceful and happy Eid ul-Fitr.
The service additionally committed to collaborating with affiliated organisations and other parties to guarantee sufficient security before, during, and after the activities.
