Donald Trump pledges to end birthright U.S. citizenship through executive action on his first day back in office, sparking legal and political debate over the 14th Amendment.

In an interview broadcast on Sunday, President-elect Donald Trump stated his intention to deport all undocumented immigrants in the United States, reaffirming his firm campaign promises such as ending birthright citizenship.

“You must do it,” he stated in an interview with NBC’s “Meet the Press” when questioned about his intention to deport “everyone who is here illegally over the next four years” of his term.

In his inaugural formal television interview following the November election, he emphasized his intent to abolish birthright citizenship—which is established in the US Constitution—if possible through executive action, labeling it as “ridiculous.”

Additionally, Trump mentioned he would “definitely” consider exiting NATO if allied countries didn’t “settle their financial responsibilities.”

“They need to pay their bills,” Trump informed reporters, expressing that he would “absolutely” think about withdrawing the United States from the alliance if members aren’t “treating us fairly.”
