Donald Trump reacts to Russian President Vladimir Putin expressing support for Kamala Harris, sparking discussions about international influence and political dynamics in the US.
On Thursday, US Republican nominee Donald Trump expressed uncertainty towards Russian President Vladimir Putin’s preference for his Democratic opponent, Vice President Kamala Harris.
In a speech at the Eastern Economic Forum in Vladivostok, the leader of Russia expressed his preference for Harris to win the upcoming US presidential election. Putin praised her “infectious laugh” and also respected Biden’s endorsement of her as his successor.
During an event at the Economic Club of New York, Trump stated, “Kamala was endorsed by Putin and I’m unsure if thanking him is appropriate…I am uncertain whether to feel grateful or offended.”

According to John Kirby, the spokesperson of the US National Security Council, it would be advisable for Russian President not to talk about the presidential election in America.
During a forum, Putin was asked if he had any favored candidate in the US election considering Joe Biden – for whom he expressed preference before – has withdrawn. In response to this question, Putin made his remarks.
In response, Putin asserted that it was not the responsibility of Russia to select a “preference” in the election; rather, this decision should be left solely up to American citizens. Moscow has consistently rejected Washington’s claims regarding any efforts on their part to influence US elections.
When asked about Harris, the Russian leader proposed that her optimistic temperament might result in lessening the imposition of sanctions on Russia. Putin compared this to Trump who had enforced more limitations on Moscow than any other American president at that time.
Putin stated that ultimately, the decision lies within the American people and their choice will be honored with respect.
