Trump Poised for White House Return, Vows 100 Executive Orders Within Hours

Former U.S. President Donald Trump is gearing up for a potential return to power, promising to sign 100 executive orders within hours of taking office if re-elected.

On Monday, Donald Trump is set to be inaugurated for a historic second term as the US president. He has pledged to usher in a new “golden age” for America while the world prepares for the resurgence of his unpredictable leadership style.

Due to freezing weather, the 78-year-old’s inauguration at the US Capitol has been moved indoors. However, despite this change of venue, the initial hours of what is considered one of American politics’ most remarkable comebacks will be bustling with activity.

The Republican promised to implement a series of executive orders aimed at dismantling Joe Biden’s legacy if he returns to the White House, and pledged to initiate prompt deportations of undocumented migrants.

If Trump depicted a grim vision of “American carnage” during his first inauguration in 2017, this time he is presenting a more optimistic promise of a “brand new day” for the United States.

“I will quickly and powerfully address every crisis our country faces,” Trump declared at a massive rally on the eve of his inauguration, where he also danced alongside The Village People.

However, the billionaire populist also revisited some of the ominous themes that contributed to his election win over Democratic Vice President Kamala Harris in November.

The newly elected 47th US president pledged to “halt the invasion of our borders” and overturn “woke” policies, including addressing what he referred to as “transgender insanity” in American schools.

Trump is set to make history by succeeding Biden as the oldest president ever inaugurated. Additionally, he becomes only the second president in U.S. history to regain office after losing an election, following Grover Cleveland’s return in 1893.

Before the inauguration, President Biden and First Lady Jill Biden will welcome Trump and his wife Melania to the White House for “tea and coffee,” after which they will all journey together to the Capitol.

The demonstration of civility will sharply differ from 2021, when Trump—who incited a crowd that assaulted the US Capitol in an attempt to overturn his election defeat—refused to attend Biden’s inauguration.

Trump’s triumphant mood remained unaffected despite the swearing-in ceremony on the Capitol steps being relocated due to forecasts predicting it would be the coldest Inauguration Day in 40 years.

Rather than taking the oath before a large crowd on the National Mall, Trump and Vice President-elect J.D. Vance will be sworn in inside the Capitol’s domed Rotunda, similar to Ronald Reagan’s inauguration in 1985.

“As soon as President Trump places his hand on the Bible and takes the Oath to uphold the United States Constitution, America will enter its Golden Age,” spokeswoman Karoline Leavitt posted on X.

However, many Americans remain troubled by Trump’s more concerning promises—specifically his pledges of retribution against political opponents and journalists.

Trump returns to the Oval Office more influential than ever, concluding a journey in which he overcame two assassination attempts and a criminal conviction to secure an election victory.

Originally an outsider in politics, Trump has now become a standard figure in U.S. political landscape.

Three of the world’s wealthiest individuals—tech moguls Elon Musk, Mark Zuckerberg, and Jeff Bezos—will join Trump for the inauguration.

Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla, SpaceX, and X, pledged during Sunday’s rally to lead a cost-cutting initiative in the new administration with the aim of making America strong “for centuries.”

Trump, who mentioned during his election campaign that he would only act as a dictator on “day one,” has pledged to sign approximately 100 executive orders shortly after assuming office.

Their plans involve declaring a national emergency at the U.S.-Mexico border and reversing the Biden administration’s policies on diversity and oil drilling.

Trump mentioned that supporters would be “very pleased” with a decision to pardon the January 6 rioters.

For the rest of the world, Trump’s return signifies a need to anticipate unpredictability.

From pledging extensive tariffs, to issuing territorial challenges regarding Greenland and Panama, and questioning U.S. aid for Ukraine, Trump appears poised to disrupt the global order once more.

His victory has also inspired right-wing politicians globally. Notably, Italy’s far-right Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni plans to attend the inauguration despite foreign leaders typically not being invited.
