In a historic move, former President Donald Trump has appointed the youngest press secretary in United States history. The nominee, celebrated for their communication skills and media acumen, is set to bring a fresh perspective to the role if confirmed.

President-elect Donald Trump has declared that Karoline Leavitt, who serves as the spokesperson for his 2024 campaign, will assume the role of White House press secretary upon his inauguration in January. At only 27 years old, Leavitt is set to become the youngest individual ever to hold this position.

In a statement issued on Friday, Trump commended Leavitt for her role in his campaign. “Karoline Leavitt performed exceptionally well as the National Press Secretary during my Historic Campaign,” he remarked. “She is intelligent, resilient, and has shown herself to be an extremely effective communicator. I have complete confidence that she will excel at the podium and aid in conveying our message to the American people as we work to Make America Great Again.”

Leavitt worked as an assistant press secretary during former President Trump’s first term, serving under Kayleigh McEnany. McEnany is currently a well-known host on Fox News. In her social media announcement, Leavitt expressed appreciation to Trump by saying, “Thank you, President Trump, for believing in me. I am humbled and honored. Let’s Make America Great Again!”

With Leavitt’s appointment, she will be the youngest person to hold the top press position since Ron Ziegler, who was 29 when he assumed the role during Richard Nixon’s administration in the 1970s. Prior to joining Trump’s 2024 campaign, Leavitt served as a senior aide to Representative Elise Stefanik (R-NY), whom Trump recently nominated for ambassador to the United Nations.
