Former President Trump has issued a warning to Jewish Americans, addressing concerns over current political and social issues impacting the community.
If the former US president is not re-elected, he has alleged that Israel could face non-existence.
In an effort to secure votes in the upcoming November election, Donald Trump has requested that American Jews support him. He cautioned them against not doing so and stated that if they failed, Israel would be susceptible to attacks from its foes resulting in destruction.
The ex-president of the United States and Republican candidate for the 2024 election addressed a fundraising event in a New Jersey community with a significant Jewish population over this past weekend.
He alleged that the Democrats disfavor Israel and express a strong animosity towards the Jewish community.
Trump emphasized the importance of winning the election and securing votes from Jewish people, stating that without their support for Republicans, Israel’s future would be uncertain.
If elected, the candidate for presidency promised to aid Israel in their battle against Hamas. The assertion that had he remained in office on October 7 when a Hamas assault took place instigating the war in Gaza it would not have occurred was emphasized by Trump once again.
Based on surveys conducted by the Pew Research Center, a think tank based in Washington D.C., US Jews have maintained their support for the Democratic Party. Nevertheless, Voice of America reported that an escalating number of American Jews are now favoring Republicans during recent elections. In February this year, The Pittsburgh Jewish Chronicle referenced a survey which indicated that 53% of New York’s Jewish voters planned to vote for Donald Trump come November election day.
In the past few months, there has been a deterioration in the bond between Israel’s government and the Biden administration due to Israel’s attack on Gaza. The President of America- Joe Biden cautioned Israeli leaders against launching an extensive military operation in Rafah – which is densely populated, indicating that this act would be unacceptable. He further threatened to withhold arms supply if they proceed with their plan, stating “I won’t provide weaponry support if they enter Rafah.”
A consignment of munitions, anticipated for use by Israel in Rafah during late April, was temporarily suspended by the Biden administration. The Jewish State initiated an attack on Gazan city at the start of May, triggering broad global censure.
Trump criticized Biden’s management of the Israel-Hamas conflict in April.
He stated that “Biden has completely lost his grip on the Israel dilemma… Any Jewish individual who votes for a Democrat or intends to vote for Biden should thoroughly reevaluate their decision.”
According to the Council on Foreign Relations, Israel has been the primary beneficiary of US economic and military aid ever since its establishment in 1948. The total economic and military assistance given amounts to approximately $310 billion (adjusted for inflation). Recently, President Biden approved a foreign funding bill worth $95 billion which includes provision for military support towards Israel.
