In his first address since election night, Donald Trump names Robert F. Kennedy Jr. as Health Secretary, signaling potential shifts in U.S. health policy. 

Donald Trump celebrated his election victory with supporters at a political gala in Florida, marking his first public address since becoming president-elect.

Previously, Trump nominated Robert F. Kennedy Jr. for the position of Secretary of Health and Human Services.

In a statement, the president-elect announced that Kennedy, known for his vaccine skepticism, will assist in safeguarding Americans against “harmful chemicals, pollutants, pesticides, pharmaceutical products and food additives.”

Since winning the US election last week, Trump has been assembling his senior team. His party is expected to secure a majority in the House of Representatives, indicating that Republicans will control both the White House and all of Congress.

Earlier, Senator Dick Durbin, the current chair of the Senate Judiciary Committee, requested that the findings of a report concerning Matt Gaetz—Trump’s controversial choice for attorney general—be made public.

As we’ve been reporting, Donald Trump delivered his first public address since election night on Thursday, using the opportunity to highlight “the most consequential election in the past 129 years.”

He spoke at a political gathering in Florida, attended by several of his prominent supporters such as Elon Musk, RFK Jr., and Matt Gaetz.

In a brief speech, he stated that his administration would focus on the situation in the Middle East and the Russia-Ukraine conflict, emphasizing that it “has to stop.”
