In a significant policy shift, U.S. President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin have agreed to commence negotiations aimed at ending the conflict in Ukraine, following a recent prisoner exchange.

Russian President Vladimir Putin and former U.S. President Donald Trump engaged in a phone conversation on Wednesday, as confirmed by both Moscow and Washington. The discussion lasted approximately an hour and a half, during which the two leaders addressed various topics, with the Ukraine conflict being a primary focus, according to Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov.

Trump stated in a post on his Truth social media platform that the phone call was “lengthy and highly productive.” He mentioned, “We discussed Ukraine, the Middle East, energy issues, artificial intelligence advancements, the power of the dollar, and various other topics,” wrote the U.S. President.

The two leaders have reached an agreement, expressing their desire to “halt the millions of deaths occurring in the Russia-Ukraine War,” stated Trump. He announced that negotiations aimed at resolving the Ukraine conflict would begin “immediately.”
