Former President Donald Trump unintentionally posts a direct message exchange with tech billionaire Elon Musk, sparking online speculation.

U.S. President-elect Donald Trump shared what seems to be a personal message sent to Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk on his social media platform, Truth Social. The post included an invitation for Musk to visit Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate.

The incident on Thursday rapidly garnered user attention before the post was removed. Screenshots circulated by various media outlets displayed the message, including Musk’s acknowledgment of the invitation; however, it did not indicate whether he intended to attend.

“Where are you? When will you be coming to the ‘Center of the Universe,’ Mar-a-Lago?” Trump posted on Truth Social.

He mentioned that Microsoft founder Bill Gates had asked to visit on Friday night, before adding: “We miss you and X! New Year’s Eve is going to be AMAZING!!!” He then signed off with his initials, “DJT.”

The mention of “X” is thought to pertain to Musk’s son, who is typically called “X.” In the past, Musk has taken his son to public events such as meetings on Capitol Hill and Trump’s watch party at Mar-a-Lago during the November election.

The message arrives amidst a period when Musk, appointed by Trump to co-lead a government efficiency initiative, is confronting criticism from Trump’s loyal supporters. This backlash stems from Musk’s endorsement of a visa program that permits highly skilled foreign workers to immigrate to the U.S. Critics claim that H1-B visas are misused by American companies as they prefer hiring foreign talent over qualified American candidates.

According to sources, Musk has often visited Mar-a-Lago in recent months and frequently appears in family photos with Trump’s children and grandchildren.

Despite being conspicuously absent from recent Trump family celebrations, Musk shared a photo of himself dressed as Santa Claus on social media, calling himself “Ozempic Santa,” in reference to the weight-loss medication. In a subsequent post, he clarified that he was actually using Mounjaro, another similar drug.
