A truck carrying sharp sand broke down in Mpape, a community near Abuja’s Maitama District, crushing no less than eight people to death, including kids.
It was learned that the event happened on Thursday at approximately 4 p.m. outside Keke NAPEP Park, on the route that connects to the Mpape intersection.
Witness Mustapha Aminu claimed that at least eight persons, including students, were killed when the truck crashed into many tricycles known as Keke and other cars.

The driver abandoned the truck and fled with the assistance of a motorbike, according to Aminu, after realising the damage he had caused.
“I was close to the road when the tragedy happened. It did a lot of harm. As I tallied, I think it murdered eight individuals. “The caravan brake failed,” people were saying. My understanding is that the truck initially lost control of the situation due to a burst tyre.
The truck’s horn was silent, which is unusual because occasionally when tragedies like this occur, people will hear the sound from a distance and avoid the area. There would have been numerous lifesavings if the driver had taken this action.
The incident impacted multiple automobiles and over seven Keke. “In one of the tricycles, about two students perished instantly,” he claimed.
Five dead bodies and ten injured people were found by the rescue squad, according to FCT Sector Commander Chorrie Mutaa, who confirmed the tragedy. Thirteen vehicles were involved in the collision, he continued, including the truck that started it all and a motorbike.
