A tragic truck accident results in the deaths of a woman and her granddaughter, highlighting urgent safety concerns on the roads.
Following the heart-wrenching incident in Lafenwa, Ogun State that claimed four lives and inflicted injuries on two individuals, a new detrimental collision has transpired within Papalanto’s vicinity where a grandmother and her granddaughter lost their lives.
On the early morning of Friday, an unlucky occurrence transpired between a tricycle marked TRE 627 VP and an Iveco Truck with license plate KJA 166 XJ.
According to Babatunde Akinbiyi, who represents the Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Agency (TRACE), irresponsible driving by the truck driver was responsible for the accident.
The incident involved four people, consisting of two males and two females. Tragically, the female passengers were killed in the accident.
Akinbiyi clarified that, while heading towards Abeokuta, the truck driver made an attempt to surpass the tricycle.

During the incident, the tricycle and truck crashed into each other. The collision resulted in the tricycle overturning and falling directly onto a path where it was hit by the truck, leading to immediate death of both grandmother and granddaughter on board.
Before authorities could capture him or her, driver of vehicle fled from occurrence site.
In addition, the representative from TRACE noted that the bodies of those who passed away have been retrieved by their respective families.
Meanwhile, an anonymous passerby transported the wounded tricycle operator to a undisclosed medical facility for treatment. The two automobiles implicated in this collision are now under custody at Itori Divisional Police Command.
TRACE and the police reiterated their call for motorists to steer clear of dangerous driving, emphasizing how severe such actions can be while expressing sympathies to bereaved families.
