Troops successfully foil an ISWAP attack in a tactical ambush, recovering ammunition and preventing further assaults.

Under Operation Hadin Kai, troops from the Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF) successfully repelled an attempted attack by Islamic State of West Africa Province (ISWAP) terrorists along the Magumeri–Maiduguri axis in Borno State.

Through a meticulously planned tactical ambush, the troops neutralized the threat before insurgents could harm any innocent civilians in the area.

This information was confirmed by Lt. Col. Olaniyi Osaba, the Chief Military Information Officer of MNJTF in N’Djamena, Chad, via a statement released on Sunday in Maiduguri.

Osaba explained that the troops had strategically positioned themselves along the terrorists’ expected route. As soon as the terrorists emerged from a forested area on motorcycles, they were intercepted and engaged by military forces.

When the terrorists encountered the troops, they tried to flee but faced a relentless barrage of gunfire. This forced them to abandon their weapons and motorcycles.

The MNJTF troops’ swift response effectively thwarted ISWAP’s plans to incite violence in the region.

Recovered from the insurgents were two AK-47 rifles, 51 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, two magazines containing an additional 61 rounds of 7.62 NATO ammunition, alongside parcels of marijuana and Tramadol.
