Troops seize stolen crude worth N637m, detain 36 suspects

The operations conducted by Nigerian troops in the South-South region have resulted in the successful recovery of stolen crude oil worth N637 million and the apprehension of 36 suspects involved in oil theft.

Maj. Gen. Edward Buba, the Director of Defence Media Operations, made this announcement in a statement released on Friday.

In addition to the recovery of 672,350 litres of stolen crude oil and 90,530 litres of illegally refined AGO (Diesel) in the Niger Delta area, the troops also discovered and dismantled 51 dugout pits, 24 boats, 21 storage tanks, and four vehicles as part of their recent operations in the region.

The efforts of the troops have significantly contributed to combating oil theft and illegal activities in the area, with the denial of oil theft amounting to N637,710,310.00 and the recovery of various items such as cooking ovens and illegal refining sites.
