In Vom, Jos South Local Government Area, Plateau State, troops of Operation SAFE HAVEN (OPSH) have successfully located and demolished an illicit weapons production facility.
This was revealed by the Nigerian Army in a statement that was shared on Facebook on Saturday.
Six AK-47 rifles, four submachine guns, eleven AK rifle bodies, a handgun, and seven AK-47 bridge blocks are among the recovered goods.
In addition, there are four magazines for AK-47 rifles, two hundred recoil springs for AK-47 rifles, seven rifle butts, eight rifle muzzles, nine piston assemblies, and five cartridge housings.A hand filling machine and a set of drilling machines were also found.
According to the Army, two people who were directly involved in the proliferation and marketing of weapons, Michael Dung, 33, and Yusuf Pam, 43, were also captured in addition to the weapons and equipment used to fabricate them.
In accordance with the directive given to troops during the launch of Operations HAKORIN DAMISA IV by the Chief of Army Staff, Lt Gen TA Lagbaja, the Army said that the successful operation further demonstrates the unwavering commitment of OPSH to rid the Joint Operations Area of illegal arms and dismantle criminal networks involved in illegal weapon manufacturing and distribution.

It went on to say that recovering so many guns and associated gear will surely stop criminal activity and improve national security and stability, which is General CG Musa, the Chief of Defence Staff’s top priority, as well as the security and stability of Plateau State.
Major General AE Abubakar, the GOC and Commander of OPSH, praised the soldiers’ tenacity and thanked the community for their ongoing assistance and collaboration in supplying vital information that has benefited in the battle against illicit enterprises.
He pointed out that in order to successfully execute operations meant to preserve peace and security in Plateau State, and consequently, Nigeria, cooperation between the military and the general populace is essential.
