Military forces successfully rescued 13 kidnapped victims during a raid on a bandits’ hideout in Kaduna, as the fight against banditry in the region intensifies.
In Kachia Local Government Area of Kaduna State, the Nigerian Army’s Sector 4 troops from Operation Whirl Punch successfully rescued thirteen hostages who were held captive by kidnappers.
The Kaduna State Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Samuel Aruwan, reported that the troops successfully rescued hostages after receiving credible human intelligence indicating that bandits were transporting them in the vicinity of Chigulu village located within Kachia LGA.
According to him, after mobilizing the troops for a rescue mission at the suspected bandits’ campsite, they immediately engaged them in a ferocious gunfight that compelled them to desert their captive and escape into the thick woods.

Six men and seven women were rescued from the bandit’s camp, and in addition, the troops successfully demolished the dwellings. Furthermore, they seized one AK-47 rifle as well as a locally made firearm along with four magazines of ammunition for each weapon type; they also secured eighty-seven rounds of 7.62mm bullets to prevent future use by these criminals. Additionally found on-site were five mini solar panels which can be used for various purposes such as charging phones or powering small electronics like radios or lamps – all recovered alongside five mobile devices; altogether amounting to N192,220 in cash was collected during this operation yielding significant losses towards potential illicit activities orchestrated therein.
After being rescued, the victims were taken to a military facility for assessment and debriefing before reuniting with their loved ones.
The Kaduna State Governor, Senator Uba Sani, commended the prompt actions of Major General Mariyenso Saraso and his troops from 1 Division Nigerian Army/Commander Operation Whirl Punch (OPWP) for their victorious mission. He also expressed gratitude towards the favorable report.
