Troops Repel Surprise Attack by Suspected IPOB Operatives, Soldier and Others Killed

Nigerian Army forces have effectively thwarted an assault carried out by suspected members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and their militia group, the Eastern Security Network (ESN), in Okija, Ihiala Local Government Area of Anambra.

As stated in a communication released on its official platform on Friday, the Nigerian Army reported that the insurgents, armed with AK-47 rifles and utilizing two Lexus vehicles and motorcycles, launched a sudden attack on the town, initiating gunfire towards troops involved in internal security operations.

The troops promptly and resolutely retaliated and repelled the assault, eliminating an unspecified number of the assailants, while others escaped with gunshot injuries, leaving behind traces of blood along their escape path.

As per the communication, one soldier made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty, with two others sustaining severe injuries and currently undergoing medical treatment.
