A daring gunfight in Sokoto State prevented an abduction attempt, according to the Nigeria Army, which announced this on Thursday night. The troops were stationed there to conduct counterterrorism operations.

Five terrorists were neutralised and two hostages held by the terrorists were freed, according to a statement made by the NA Authority on its regular X platform.

As a result of a fierce gunfight, the terrorists were neutralised and others were forced to flee with injuries they had sustained during the exchange of gunfire, according to the statement. The troops had responded to a distress call from the Baniguntu and Gohonau forest area in Gudu Local Government Area.

It went on to name the two freed captives, Nura Isya and Saluhu Hamza, and stated that they had been safely turned over to the Chairman of the Gudu Local Government Area for health care and family reunification.

In addition to averting a possible catastrophe, the operation’s success resulted in the seizure of five AK-47 rifles, thirty-two rounds of ammunition, and a Tecno phone, which further hampered the terrorist organization’s operations. According to the statement, “This valiant rescue effort demonstrates the Nigerian Army’s determination to fight terrorism and guarantee the safety and security of citizens in Sokoto State and throughout the nation.”
