Troops of the Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF) operating in Sector 3 of Borno state have thwarted a Boko Haram attack in the northeast of the state. MNJTF N’Djamena, Chad’s Chief Military Intelligence Officer, Lt. Col. Olaniy Osoba, disclosed this in a statement on Sunday. He said the troops, acting on credible intelligence, carried out a tactical ambush before the terrorists could destroy innocent civilians, neutralizing the threat. “The troops tactically positioned themselves along the terrorists’ route and attacked the terrorists who emerged from the forest area on motorcycles and took a different route,” the statement read. “The terrorists saw the troops and tried to flee, but were met with heavy gunfire. This inconclusive battle forced them to abandon their weapons and motorcycles, thwarting their plans to unleash violence in the region.
