Troops eliminate six terrorists, retrieve weapons in Yobe

Six Boko Haram terrorists have been neutralised by the forces of Sector 2 Joint Task Force (North East) Operation Hadin, according to the organization’s headquarters. The operations were carried out in two local government areas of Yobe State.

Captain Muhammad Shehu, the Sector’s acting assistant director of public relations, revealed this in a statement on Thursday.

As to the official release, the soldiers documented their achievements as part of their continuous efforts to eradicate terrorism, insurgency, and various criminal activities from the Northeast region.

In recent operations, on October 25, 2023, forces of 159 Battalion staged an ambush against roving militants who were harassing villagers and extorting levies from the locals based on actionable intelligence.

“At Jororo village in Geidam Local Government Area (LGA) of Yobe State, during the encounter, the troops neutralised two terrorists and recovered weapons and items including two AK-47 rifles, two motorcycles, and a mobile phone in a fierce fire fight, while others escaped in disarray with gunshot injuries,” the statement read.

In a different operation, troops from the 233 Battalion, which had been stationed at Babbangida on October 26, 2023, reportedly neutralised four Boko Haram insurgents and retrieved weapons in response to intelligence reports indicating the presence of possible terrorists in the Tarmuwa LGA of Yobe State’s Bajingo and Kurnawa villages.

The statement claimed, “Among other random items, the brave soldiers also recovered two motorcycles following the fire fight.”

According to information obtained by OBASANJO NEWS24, there was celebration in Geidam town on Wednesday night following the suspected Boko Haram members’ deaths by 159 Battalion soldiers.
