Nigerian troops achieve a major victory in Yobe, neutralizing a notorious terrorist along with 114 others in a decisive operation.
Nigerian Army troops have successfully eliminated the infamous terrorist leader, Munzur Ya Audu, in Yobe State along with 114 other terrorists through carefully planned operations nationwide.
Major General Edward Buba, the Director of Defence Media Operations, announced this on Thursday at a press briefing in Abuja.
He stated that troops were actively targeting logistics bases and other structures associated with terrorist groups, emphasizing their efforts to dismantle these capabilities and destroy the networks of those terror organizations.
Throughout the week being reviewed, troops successfully neutralized 115 individuals, arrested 238 others, and rescued 138 kidnapped hostages.
Additionally, the troops retrieved a total of 145 various weapons and 3,825 rounds of ammunition. These included one GPMG, two PKT guns, sixty-eight AK47 rifles, two AK56 rifles, and twenty-four fabricated rifles,” he stated.

Recovered items also include 28 Dane guns, a fabricated revolver pistol, six locally made pistols, one additional pistol, eight pump-action guns, a hand grenade, four fabricated hand grenades, an RPG bomb and three explosives.
In the North-East, within a week, troops from Operation Hadin Kai killed 61 terrorists, captured 34 suspects, and rescued 32 kidnapped hostages.
Buba reported that troops from Operations Safe Haven and Whirl Stroke eliminated 18 violent extremists, captured 48 individuals, and rescued 48 hostages who had been kidnapped in the North-Central region.
During military operations in the North-West, forces from Operation Hadarin Daji eliminated 28 terrorists, captured 77 others, and rescued 57 kidnapped hostages.
He mentioned that the air force conducted air interdiction against hibernating terrorists at the hideouts of notorious kingpins Sadiku and Sola in Safana and Batsari areas of Katsina State.
“The air unit used rockets and bombs to engage the targets. After evaluating the battle damage, it was confirmed that several terrorists were eliminated and their structures destroyed,” he added.
