Nigerian troops successfully gunned down bandits in Kaduna who were attempting to pick up a ransom of N1.5 million, showcasing their ongoing efforts to combat banditry and enhance security in the region.
Nigerian military forces successfully killed two bandits who were attempting to collect a ransom in the village of Mai-Iddo, located in Kachia Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
The criminals were demanding ₦1.5 million in exchange for releasing four hostages, which included three women and a child who had been kidnapped the previous week.
Reports indicate that the military collaborated with local vigilantes and a family member of the victims to strategically trap the bandits.
This operation successfully rescued the hostages and neutralized the criminals before they could escape with the ransom.
Arrangements were finalized with the troops, involving both the individual assigned to deliver the ransom and a vigilante. Upon reaching the designated location, the troops took cover.
A community leader informed Daily Trust, “When two of the bandits emerged to collect the ransom, the troops immediately opened fire and killed both of them on the spot.”
The operation successfully resulted in the rescue of the four captives, who have now been reunited with their families.
