The remains of missing Fulani leader Ardo Adamu Idris, the Gabdo of Panyam in Plateau State, have been found by Nigerian forces.
On Thursday, the Nigerian Army posted a statement to its social media accounts that included this information.
The statement reads: “Following a Special Forces Tracking Operations performed by troops of Operation SAFE HAVEN based on credible intelligence from well-meaning locals, the remains of the Missing Fulani leader, Ardo Adamu Idris Gabdo, the Ardo Panyam, have been identified and recovered for burial.
The forces carried out the operations in the early hours of today, October 5, 2033, and were successful in locating and recovering the remains of the missing Ardo about Boi along Pankshin – Bauchi Road in Tafawa Balewa Local Government Area of Bauchi State. Since then, the family has been given the body so it can be buried properly.
“OPSH’s ongoing community engagement strategies enabled this breakthrough,’ the statement reads. This remained crucial to the search activities, as troops closely collaborated with Ardo Adamu Gabdo’s family, community leaders, and other important stakeholders to obtain crucial information and plan the search operations.
The leadership of Operation SAFE HAVEN and the local communities’ unwavering cooperation shows how committed and determined all sides are to see that the offenders are brought to justice.
Therefore, the discovery of Ardo Adamu Idris Gabdo’s remains represents a major advancement in understanding the circumstances behind his disappearance. The inquiry will now move forward with renewed vigour in order to find and capture those responsible for this horrific crime and swiftly bring them to justice, as instructed by the Chief of Army Staff.
To protect the safety of people and property throughout the Joint Operations Area, particularly on the Plateau, OPSH will keep working nonstop and will stop at nothing to bring the criminals responsible for all heinous acts to justice.
The General Officer Commanding 3 Division Nigerian Army and Commander of Operation SAFE HAVEN, Major General AE Abubakar, while praising the unique operation, wishes to send his most sincere condolences to Ardo Adamu Idris Gabdo’s family and loved ones during this trying time. He implores the populace to be watchful, aid the security forces, and submit any pertinent data that could help with the current inquiries.
“He further urged law-abiding inhabitants to work together to build a safe and secure environment free of criminal elements for all residents, assuring them that justice would be served on anyone proven to be at fault.
Remember that Ardo Adamu Idris Gabdo reportedly vanished on Sunday, September 24, 2023, while travelling to see his family and friends who lived in Panyam of the Mangu Local Government Area of Plateau State from Bauchi State.
