Troops Arrest Suspected Kidnappers of Retired Army General in Imo

Military troops in Imo State have arrested suspects involved in the kidnapping of a retired Army General, marking a significant breakthrough in the ongoing fight against criminal activities in the region.

Recent operations conducted by the Nigerian Army have yielded noteworthy results, such as capturing four individuals suspected of kidnapping retired Major General Richard Duru in Imo State.

The accused were caught in possession of a significant quantity of weaponry and bullets. They made an effort to bribe the soldiers with N5 million, but it was declined.

The suspects had N5,048,105 confiscated by the Army along with three vehicles, six laptops and a cash-counting machine.

Boko Haram terrorists were ambushed by Nigerian troops at Logomani village in Borno State on August 27, 2024. The encounter led to the death of five terrorists and retrieval of an AK-47 rifle along with a magazine and two bicycles.

A group of 11 Boko Haram militants and their accompanying family members surrendered in Gwoza local government area, admitting defeat due to the superior firepower of Nigerian Army forces.

An ambush was carried out by troops in Wulle village of Yobe State against Boko Haram terrorists where two individuals were killed and an FN rifle, a magazine, as well as a bicycle were seized.

Furthermore, the Army apprehended Sunday Ofordimze Asika in Anambra State. He is a well-known member of the Indigenous People of Biafra/Eastern Security Network (IPOB/ESN) and has been notorious for creating havoc in communities located within Aguta local government area.

Six cartridges, five machetes, a laptop, a vehicle and various charms were confiscated from him.

During a waterway patrol in Ikang village, Cross River State troops halted an automated wooden boat utilized by armed criminals. As the culprits fled, they abandoned a 40 HP boat engine, N50,500 and left behind three cartridges alongside a pump-action rifle that was found on board.
