Senator Abba Moro of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, won the Benue South senatorial election on February 25. This decision was affirmed by the National and State Assembly Election Tribunal in Makurdi, Benue State.
A petition to invalidate Moro’s election was submitted to the tribunal by the All Progressives Congress, APC, candidate, Mr. Dan Onjeh.
The petition was, however, denied by the tribunal on the grounds that it contained “weak and porous” evidence.
In response, Onjeh criticised the tribunal’s decision and pleaded with his followers to maintain composure.
He indicated that after reviewing the verdict, his solicitors would advise him on the best course of action.
The election petition tribunal in Makurdi has just dismissed my case on erroneous grounds, Onjeh stated.
“For us, it is a familiar landscape; we have travelled through it multiple times over the course of the past 12 arduous years, and we are undeterred. Our legal experts will review the verdict and offer advice on our potential options.
“However, we give God praise in every circumstance. I also want to express my gratitude for your never-ending prayers and unwavering support. May God bless you.
