The lawsuit brought by Kabiru Gaya of the All Progressives Congress, APC, to contest Abdulrahman Kawu Sumaila’s victory in the Kano South senatorial election has been rejected by the National and State House of Assembly Election Petition Tribunal.
The tribunal, presided over by Justice R.O. Odogu, determined that Gaya’s petition was manifestly inadmissible and upheld Sumaila’s election as a result.
The tribunal “affirmed the declaration of Abdulrahman Kawu Sumaila of the NNPP as winner of the Kano South Senatorial District election held on February 25, 2023,” concluding that the case lacked substance.
The panel also granted N200,000 as cost reimbursement to Gaya in favour of
