The Presidential Election appeal Tribunal reserved judgement on Tuesday in Abuja in the appeal of the Peoples Democratic Party’s presidential candidate, Abubakar Atiku, seeking to overturn the declaration of Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the winner of the February 25 presidential election.

While withholding judgement, Tribunal Chairman Justice Simon Tsammani stated that the date of delivery would be communicated to the parties in the case.

The main petitioner, Atiku Abubakar, requested that the Tribunal give substantive justice to his petition rather than a technical judgement that could corrupt the course of justice.

He argued that Tinubu be disqualified based on the American Court ruling in which he was ordered to forfeit $460,000 for narcotics and money laundering charges.

Chief Chris Uche SAN, Atiku’s lead counsel, approved his final address.

Lateef Fagbemi SAN, counsel for the All Progressives Congress, APC, requested the Court to dismiss the arguments on the grounds that the alleged judgement was issued over 30 years ago.

President Tinubu, represented by legal luminary Chief Wole Olanipekun SAN, requested that the suit be dismissed since Atiku and the PDP’s objections are directed at the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC.
