Tribunal dismisses Nasarawa’s Governor Abdullahi Sule and declares PDP winner
A tribunal dismisses Nasarawa’s Governor Abdullahi Sule and declares the PDP the winner.
On Monday, the Nasarawa State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal declared Governor Abdullahi Sule’s win invalid.
Emmanuel Ombudagu of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, was declared the victor by the three-person panel, which was presided over by Justice Ezekiel Ajayi, while delivering the verdict through zoom.
While one member abstained, the other two justices concurred that the PDP had won the election.
According to Ezekiel, the petitioner was able to establish his case beyond a reasonable doubt.
Former governors Abdullahi Adamu and Tanko Al-makura were among the political heavyweights present at the court, according to an earlier report by Obasanjonews24.
Recall that Abdullahi Sule was proclaimed the victor of the Nasarawa State governorship election in March by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Lafia.
Prof. Ishaya Tanko, the INEC returning officer, said that the APC candidate received 347,209 votes overall, defeating David Ombugadu, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, who received 283, 016 votes.
