Matthijs De Ligt, a former Ajax defender, is the target of Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag.

According to Sky Germany, De Ligt’s future at Bayern Munich remains doubtful.

Now that Ten Hag’s stay at Old Trafford is assured, the Dutchman is focusing on strengthening his team in preparation for the upcoming campaign.

Additionally, he wants to strengthen the defence, as the Red Devils gave up 58 goals the previous campaign.

Jonny Evans may go this summer, following the already-departed Raphael Varane. Both Lisandro Martinez and Harry Maguire have demonstrated a propensity for injuries in recent campaigns.

This summer, De Ligt is free to depart Bayern as they plan their own defensive makeover under new coach Vincent Kompany.

Hiroki Ito from Vfb Stuttgart has already come, and Jonathan Tah, a centre back for Bayer Leverkusen, is also a target.
