Paul Onuachu, a forward for the Super Eagles, is about to begin a season-long loan with Ligue 1 club Metz.
L’equipe, a French news source, reports that Southampton has consented to let the gangly striker join Metz for the 2023–24 campaign.
Onuachu left KRC Genk of the Belgian Pro League to join Southampton in January, however he was unable to save the Smurfs from the drop.
The 29-year-old will take Georges Mikautadze’s position, who this week left for Eredivisie powerhouse Ajax.
In 12 games for Southampton last year, Onuachu did not score a goal.
He was a prolific goal scorer for Genk before joining Southampton, tallying 85 goals in 134 games.
