Tragic Kano Bridge Crash Claims 23 Lives – FRSC

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has confirmed that 23 people lost their lives in a devastating crash on a bridge in Kano, highlighting concerns over road safety.
The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Kano has confirmed that a tragic accident claimed the lives of 23 individuals beneath the Muhammadu Buhari Interchange Flyover on the Kano-Maiduguri Road, Hotoro.
The FRSC reported that the crash involved a DAF trailer carrying both passengers and goods. Preliminary findings indicate that excessive speeding caused the driver to lose control, leading to this tragic incident.
“The FRSC stated that casualty reports indicate a total of 71 individuals were involved, with 48 injured victims and 23 fatalities.”
Emergency responders, such as FRSC officials and the Nigeria Police Force, promptly reached the scene to assist victims and manage traffic flow.
The injured were taken to Murtala Mohammed Specialist Hospital for immediate medical care.
After the accident on Thursday, FRSC Kano Sector Commander, CC UM Matazu, directed a comprehensive investigation to determine the cause of the crash.
He extended his condolences to the families of those who lost their lives and wished a speedy recovery for the injured.
“The Sector Commander additionally issued a serious caution against the overloading of trailers with goods, animals, and passengers. He highlighted that these careless actions greatly elevate the likelihood of deadly accidents,” stated the FRSC.
