Tragic Incident: 3 Girls Drown in Jigawa Pond
A tragic drowning incident in Jigawa has claimed the lives of three young girls, leaving families and the community devastated.
Reportedly, the tragedy took place as Fatima Sule (12), Nasiya Sale (12), and Huwaila Sa’adu (13) were trying to gather grass for their animals. These individuals have been identified as victims of the event.
The girls were reported by the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Jigawa State to have met their destiny during work near a pond.
An emergency call was received by the NSCDC’s Buji Local Government Divisional Officer at around 11:00 AM on Saturday, and a rescue team was dispatched to the scene without delay.

After a half-hour search aided by members of the local community, the bodies of three girls were retrieved.
Afterwards, they were transported to the Health Center in Tulla village where their deaths were verified by the medical officer.
The Islamic funeral practices were observed as the remains of the deceased were returned to their families and interred.
The community is shrouded in sorrow after the incident, prompting the NSCDC to urge residents for increased vigilance during rainy season as a preventive measure against future calamities.
