The Enugu police department reported that a tragic incident resulted in the loss of 16 lives due to a road accident involving an 18-seater bus that crashed into a section of Maduka University, causing the vehicle to catch fire and the passengers to be burned beyond recognition.
According to Daniel Ndukwe, the police spokesperson in Enugu, the fatal accident occurred in the evening around 5:30 p.m. on a Tuesday, with only two survivors who were promptly taken to the hospital for medical treatment.
The details regarding the starting point and intended destination of the victims remain unknown, as investigations into the circumstances surrounding the accident are ongoing.
The bus, identified as a white Toyota Hummer with registration number DAS 215 XA, was carrying various goods and belongings of the deceased passengers when the tragedy unfolded.
