A tragic incident in Aloma, Ofu local government area of Kogi State, resulted in the loss of 25 lives due to a collision involving a Toyota Sienna bus, a Toyota Hiace bus, and an articulated vehicle on a Sunday morning.
Eyewitnesses reported that the collision occurred as the vehicles tried to navigate a pothole, leading to a fire that engulfed all the passengers, leaving no survivors from either bus.
The accident, which took place near Aloma Teachers’ College, also caused a nearby house to be destroyed by the flames, with an articulated vehicle parked close by also catching fire and being reduced to ashes.
Unfortunately, due to the lack of firefighting equipment, the villagers were unable to rescue those trapped in the vehicles, further exacerbating the tragic outcome of the accident.
Efforts to reach the Kogi State Sector commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps for a statement were unsuccessful, as he was engaged in a meeting at the time of contact.
