A Pakistani father has allegedly killed his teenage daughter over her TikTok videos, sparking outrage and renewed debates on social media freedom and honor crimes.

In a tragic incident in Pakistan, a father has allegedly killed his teenage daughter over videos she uploaded to the popular social media platform TikTok, which he deemed inappropriate.

Babar Baloch, the local police chief, stated that the man, thought to be in his 50s, had recently moved his family from the United States to Quetta—a city located in southwestern Pakistan.

The father reportedly perceived the teenager’s social media activity as dishonorable, which led to the deadly confrontation.

Authorities have initiated a probe into the incident, which has incited outrage and heightened concerns about the influence of social media on conservative communities.

According to Baloch, the father, currently in custody, admitted to shooting his daughter earlier this week. This incident followed her refusal to dress more modestly and cease uploading videos on TikTok that the family deemed “indecent.”

The police are considering the incident as a suspected case of what is often referred to as an “honour killing.”

According to the Human Rights Commission of Pakistan (HRCP), approximately 1,000 women in Pakistan are killed by close relatives—such as fathers, brothers, and sons—in the name of preserving family honor.
