Unknown assailants have once again taken the lives of 11 individuals, which tragically includes a pregnant woman, in Ole’Adag’aklo village in Usha Council Ward of Agatu LGA in Benue State.
The attackers reportedly arrived in the village on Sunday evening and carried out a brutal attack, resulting in the deaths of 11 people and the abduction of others.
The Chairman of Agatu Local Government Area, Yakubu Ochepo, confirmed the devastating incident to the media on Monday, revealing that seven bodies have been recovered so far, including those of a pregnant woman, an elderly man, and five young individuals.
The remaining four bodies were retrieved by soldiers who responded to the scene.
Ochepo also mentioned that the armed assailants initially fled but regrouped, prompting the need for additional support from Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS) to address the escalating violence.
Reports suggest that some individuals were captured alive while others were thrown into the river during the attack.
However, the police spokesperson in the state, SP Catherine Anene, stated that she had not been officially informed about the tragic incident.
