TotalEnergies witnesses NNPCL’s successful restoration of 275,000 bpd oil production

The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) has brought TotalEnergies’ daily oil production back up to 275,000 barrels.

This is in line with a statement dated November 12 and signed by NNPCL’s chief corporate communications officer, Olufemi Soneye.

The statement claims that TotalEnergies Management, the Nigerian Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers (NUPENG), and the Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (PENGASSAN) have mediated a peace agreement.

Parts of the statement read as follows: “The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC Ltd.) mediated a peace agreement between the Nigeria Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers (NUPENG), the Management of TotalEnergies, operator of the NNPC / TotalEnergies JV, and the Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association (PENGASSAN) on Sunday, November 12, 2023. The unions have decided to halt ongoing industrial action, which will result in the immediate restoration of 275, 000 barrel

“All parties pledged to resolve all the issues within an agreed framework in a communiqué published at the conclusion of a lengthy negotiation session headed by Oritsemeyiwa Eyesan, Executive Vice President, Upstream, NNPC Ltd.

The communiqué bears the signatures of Comrade Festus Osifo of PENGASSAN, Comrade Williams Akporegha of NUPENG, and MD/CEO Matthieu Bouyer of TotalEnergies. Chief Upstream Investment Officer of NNPC Upstream Investment Management Services Bala Wunti and EVP Upstream Oritsemeyiwa Eyesan of NNPC Ltd. were present. Victor Bandele, Deputy Managing Director of TotalEnergies, was also present.
PENGASSAN President Comrade Festus Osifo stated during the meeting:

We were able to come to an agreement today, and as a result, PENGASSAN has decided to immediately reinstate normalcy in all of its offices and field sites. We are dedicated to upholding every word of this agreement. We will let our members know to get back to work right away.
