Dive into the controversy stirred by a top Republican questioning President Biden’s mental fitness to possess the nuclear codes. What does this mean for national security?

After withdrawing from the presidential race, Republican lawmakers are pressuring America’s leader to step down.

Joe Biden, the US President has announced his determination to fulfill the remaining tenure of his presidency that concludes in January. Nonetheless, with Joe choosing not to contend for re-election this November – critics have begun mounting pressure on him to step down.

Shortly after Biden made his announcement on Sunday, Rep. Richard Hudson – the chair of the National Republican Congressional Committee – alleged that Democrats had deceived American citizens and claimed that if Biden is not fit to run for re-election due to mental capacity, he cannot complete his current term in office.

Hudson posted on X (formerly Twitter) stating that the Democrats concealed a scandalous truth from the American people- President Biden is incapacitated. This deception raises concerns about his capability to possess nuclear codes, given he’s mentally inept for campaigning at present. The magnitude of this scandal sets an unprecedented historical precedence and cannot be overlooked lightly.

Mike Johnson, the Speaker of the US House, emphasized that this occurrence is an unparalleled moment in American history and urged Biden to step down without delay.

Johnson stated that if Joe Biden is not capable of running for president, then he is also unable to serve as the president. Thus, he must resign from his position without any delay. Johnson further commented in a statement that November 5 cannot come fast enough and added Democrats’ future prospect with Harris”is no different.”

Several Republican legislators, including Florida Senator Rick Scott, Louisiana Representative Steve Scalise and House Republican Conference Chair Elise Stefanik from New York City, have joined a multitude of voices demanding Biden’s resignation as President.

Earlier today, Trump’s potential vice president from Ohio, Senator J.D. Vance, posed the question of how Biden could “justify staying President” should he withdraw from the race before any announcements were made by US leadership on this matter.

According to Vance, choosing not to run for re-election would unequivocally confirm President Trump’s belief that Biden lacks the mental capability required for serving as Commander-in-Chief. There is no room for ambiguity in this matter.
