Top Defence Officials Arrive in Sokoto to Address Security Crisis
The Defence Minister and Chief of Defence Staff have arrived in Sokoto to address the escalating security concerns in the region.
The arrival of Bello Matawalle, Minister of State for Defence, and General Christopher Musa, Chief of Defense Staff is noted at the 8 Division Nigerian Army’s Headquarters in Sokoto.
Brigadier General Ajose, the commanding officer of 8 Division and Force Commander for Joint Task Force North West Operation Hadarin Daji extended a warm welcome to the distinguished delegation.
The reason for this visit is the concerning security situation in Sokoto State, especially due to multiple lethal bandit incursions that have been afflicting the area.

The objective of the delegation is to evaluate the prevailing security scenario by emphasizing on augmenting military personnel’s operative proficiency and promoting their confidence.
Due to the worsening violence, President Bola Tinubu had directed defense leaders to move their operations to Sokoto. This area and its surrounding states have gained notoriety for terrorist activities and banditry.
