Security forces have captured notorious Boko Haram commander Abu Iklima in a swift operation, marking a significant victory in the fight against terrorism.

In a major win against insurgency, Nigerian troops participating in Operation Hadin Kai have seized Abu Iklima, a leading Boko Haram leader.

Before he was captured, Iklima controlled important strongholds in Gaizuwa—also known as Mantari—as well as Gabchari, Kashimiri, and Maimusari. These locations are situated within the Bama Local Government Area of Borno State.

Zagazola Makama, a counterterrorism and insurgency expert focusing on the Lake Chad Basin, reported that Iklima’s capture occurred after Nigerian forces decimated his enclave.

The report states, “Abu Iklima, a senior Boko Haram commander, was in charge of Gaizuwa—also known as Mantari—as well as Gabchari, Kashimiri, and Maimusari in the Bama Local Government Area.”

His stronghold was heavily devastated by forces from Operation Hadin Kai, resulting in the neutralization of hundreds of fighters.

The man tried to flee, but he was caught as easily as a chicken.
