At Tokyo’s Haneda Airport, a passenger jet has ignited on the runway. The Japan Coast Guard has verified that one of their aircraft collided with Japan Airlines’ Airbus A350 shortly before it erupted into flames.
Japan Airlines disclosed that there were 367 passengers and 12 crew members on board Flight 516 when the fire erupted, but fortunately, all of them have been safely evacuated without any reported injuries.
The fire is believed to have started during a domestic flight around 6pm local time on Tuesday. National broadcaster NHK displayed footage of numerous fire engines battling the blaze that consumed the entire plane, with fire and thick black smoke emanating from the windows and exits.
